The Door of Holy Kaaba

Since Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) built the holy Kaaba and called for Hajj 5,000 years ago, so much history surrounds the door of the Holy Kaaba. It has been changed over the centuries by the rulers.

One of the oldest original doors dating back to 1045 AH is one of Saudi Arabia’s most important masterpieces and has been to different parts of the world as a historical piece. This door is currently in Abu Dhabi at the Louvre Museum, as one of the rare pieces.

Other doors have been made throughout the years, but the current door that every Umrah or Hajj pilgrims will see on the eastern side of the Holy Kaaba was commissioned by King Khalid bin Abdul Aziz. The door made by famed jeweler Ahmed bin Ibrahim Badr used about 280 kilograms of 99.99% pure gold and over 13 million Saudi Riyals was spent for the construction excluding the amount of the gold.
